Has anyone ever read the book Bitch: in Praise of Difficult Women by Elizabeth Wurtzel? I'm making labels at work, and I'm doing this book, and it looks interesting, so I start reading the blurb on the inside flap. And I see this:
"No one better understands the desire to be bad than Elizabeth Wurtzel.  Bitch is a brilliant tract on the history of manipulative female behavior.  By looking at women who derive their power from their sexuality, Wurtzel offers a..."
I'm sorry.  What now?  We are praising the women who make the rest of us look bad?  Really now?  Maybe I didn't get the memo, but when did manipulative behavior become a good thing?  Oh, God.  I just skimmed the rest of the blurb.  You know what it ends with?
"...Bitch is a treatise on the nature of desperate sexual manipulation and a triumph of pussy power."
Now I'm all about equality among the sexes, but do we really want to be known like this?  Maybe it's just that I've known a few cold hearted, manipulative bitches in my day and the idea of wanting to be anything like them makes me laugh, but this just seems like the biggest load of horse shit I've ever heard.  The book itself doesn't seem to be as bad as it lets on, more a history of certain strong women, but if this is the spin she's putting on them, then I can't imagine ever wanting to pick this book up in my life.

But then, maybe it's just me.
