Okay, so I just got back from seeing Brokeback Mountain.
I don't usually cry at movies. I didn't cry at RENT. Hell, I didn't even cry for Boys Don't Cry, which I still feel kind of bad about. But this movie made me cry. It was damn good. But damn, I need to go find some mindless fluffy fanfic to make up for it.
Yes, there was kissing. And, oh, they were good kisses. And the love in Jack's eyes every time he looked at Ennis was almost painful. And damn, that boy has pretty eyes. The tension between those two was absolutely delicious. I need to get that scene where they meet up again after four years and just watch it on a loop for hours on end.
When I first saw the trailer I immediately thought "Oooh, Ryan & Colin if they were cowboys..." ^_^ But Ennis and Jack are so nothing like those two. But! There were a lot of similarities. And I can definitely imagine Ry & Col having some of the same talks.
I loved the noises in it, too. Especially in the beginning when they were always climbing on and off horses and clanging pots around and stuff. The music was only so-so, but that's okay. Just means I'm not buying the soundtrack any time soon. Jake Gyllenhaal was absolutely amazing. Heath Ledger was good, too, but he didn't talk a lot. *smirk* No, seriously, Jake was incredible.
Randomly skipping back to Ryan & Colin because I was thinking about the wives. If I had to assign roles, I would make Jack Colin and Ennis Ryan... and that's before the wives come into play, but Jack's wife could so be Deb... if, you know, she lived in cowboy world. And Ennis had two kids and Jack had one, and then there was that new baby talk near the end.... huh. I guess they are Ryan & Colin as cowboys in the sixties. If Ryan didn't talk a lot. ^_^

If it didn't mean getting through the end of the movie again, I think I would pay to see that scene again. ^_^
