Let me explain. Last night Kat and I went to NYC to see Serenity again. Whilst I was printing out directions, I had to explain to my father where we were going. He was quiet for a bit and I knew he didn't approve, but he also had no real power to stop me. Eventually he said "Where are you going to park?" to which I replied that I would worry about it when I got there. I know that sounds like a really... flaky? answer, but COME ON. It is a city. I would have to find a parking lot eventually. Anyway, he said something about waiting the month until it comes out on DVD. See, he's always had this problem with me wanting to do things RIGHT NOW. So I explained about the Adventure. Nothing. He just came right back and said how he wouldn't spend a hundred dollars just to go see a movie. (Didn't cost a hundred dollars, not even close. He greatly overestimated the price of gas and parking.) Again, I explained about the Adventure. And again, nothing.
When it comes down to it, the movie is just an excuse. A pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, as it were. Of course I wanted to see the movie, and getting to see it again was well worth the trip, but the trip itself was part of the fun. Kat and I often have fun just driving together. Just blasting music and talking and driving. Always nice. And, of course, the tiny prospect of getting lost that always comes with an adventure. ^_____^ Not that we ever do seem to get lost... not for more than a couple minutes anway. But getting lost is always part of the fun. And Hell, I went to NYC last night. What did you do? Oh, and this means nothing to anyone who reads my LJ aside from Karen, but guess who I saw in the city last night? Matt Liddle! I didn't speak to him... we just kind of glared at each other as we passed, but damn. I was on the streets of NYC for maybe 20 minutes total and I find someone I know. Matt was this guy I sort of hung out with my freshman year. Mostly I hung out with Heather and he hung out with Heather and we were both sort of vying for her affections, so we kinda hated each other. And once we were made to dance together, which was amusing in retrospect. He was also a major prick and I haven't spoken to him in years. ^_^
There's last week's adventure, too. We were trying to see Serenity, and even though we didn't actually get to see the movie, the night felt hardly wasted. It was an adventure. A journy to the little corner of Hell that is North Bergen to discover an Indian theater out by creepy ass warehouses and phantom trains. And ninja. Mustn't forget the ninja. My father just doesn't understand that it's not always what you're doing that's important. It's the journey, too. ^_^
Oh, and I didn't even have to look for parking. It was kinda there to greet me when I got there. ^_^ So there.
