Okay, so it's been decided to remove Best Brad and Best Non-con/AU/Cross. It's been decided to add Best Het and Best Female. The ones that are up in the air are "Most Frustrating Fade to Black" and "I'm in the Mood for Love." Honestly, I could do to get rid of them both, but I've had arguments to the contrary, so I want the public's opinion.
My point of view is this: Yes, they're both fun awards. However, I feel like they're not saying anything necessarily positive about the author or story. In one, you're awarding the author for being frustrating? For being unable or unwilling to write a sex scene? I just don't see the appeal. Okay, I did get that award last year, and I have to say it's nice to know that people want more from you, so I can see that side of it. But again, I don't find it one of our strongest awards. But it's not my call, so I want the peoples' opinion.
As for the mood for love award, again, not sure what, exactly we're awarding. It's different from best sex scene...so it's just best story where everyone's horny all the time? Best story with a lot of sex in it? I don't know. I think it's too similar to best sex scene to really justify the two of them, and best sex scene is a lot more clear cut and immediately understandable.
However, maybe I'm just not getting the point of the awards as best I could. Maybe I could have the appeal of them explained to me? Or get the opposing point of view of the two of them? Either way, I will do what the people want, so please vote and let me know your opinion. And if you have more to say, please let me know in the comments. ^_^
